The LSDC in Partnership with the SLDA are currently involved with a pilot project to determine the feasibility of growing lingon berries (partridge berries) in peat bog.

On Thursday, April 2, 2009 a regional community diversity celebration was held at the town hall in Lanse au Loup. Approximately 100 residents attended this event. A celebration of diversity was experienced through the sharing of many foods from the various ethnic backgrounds of our residents. Thanks to our partners the Labrador/Grenfell Community Youth Network and the Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism.

Over 30 geologists and prospectors travelled along the Labrador Straits, Southeastern Labrador, and Central Labrador to explore and learn about the mineral potential in the region. Dr. Charles Gower of the Geological Survey of NL led the excursion with support from exploration company personnel. The field trip was organized by the LSDC, SADC, and partners and is being supported by the Department of Natural Resources: Mineral Branch, the Department of Innovation Trade and Rural Development, and a variety of exploration companies and organizations.
